The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 Series with EQ Technology (combined energy consumption: 30,4-27,7 kWh/100 km, combined weighted CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km, CO₂ class: A) represents the first fully electric variant of the leading off-road vehicle. offers. The new model symbolizes the meeting of tradition and the future in an unprecedented way. The new electric G-Class remains true to the character of the model, retaining its angular silhouette with all the iconic elements. Like conventional internal combustion engine variants, its body is built on a ladder chassis, while this system has been modified and strengthened to integrate electric drive. Additionally, the combination of double-wishbone independent front suspension and newly developed rigid rear axle is retained. The lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder chassis provides a low center of gravity. With its usable capacity of 116 kWh, it provides enough energy for a range of 473 kilometers according to WLTP.[1]

New electric G-Class sets off-road standards

The independently controlled electric motor located near the wheels produces a maximum total power of 432 kW. These engines provide unique driving characteristics and special functions with selectable LOW RANGE off-road downshifting. In this way, G-TURN allows the vehicle to turn around itself on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function allows the vehicle to be steered with a significantly narrower steering angle when driving off-road. Three-speed intelligent off-road heavy shift function Offroad crawling functions like cruise control for off-road driving, maintaining optimum driving power while the driver focuses on navigating the terrain.

Like the tried and tested variants, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology has up to 100 percent gradeability on suitable surfaces. The vehicle maintains its stability on side slopes of up to 35 degrees. The electric G-Class outperforms its conventionally powered counterparts by 850 millimeters, with a maximum wading depth of 150 millimeters. LOW RANGE off-road gear increases driving power with a special reduction ratio. The new model virtually reproduces the function of conventional differential locks using intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR also brings a unique audio experience to the all-new electric G-Class. In addition to the characteristic G-Class driving sound, it also adds an 'aura' sound and various 'status' sounds to the environment.

The all-new G 580 with EQ Technology continues the tradition of the design icon
